Chronic Disease
Diseases that are persistent for long term and require ongoing “medical treatment” are called Chronic Diseases. According to Internal Medicine, it is defined as recidivism or relapsable which means, a tendency to relapse into a previous condition, disease, or pattern of behaviour or recurrence of a past like multiple sclerosis, reinstatement of drug- seeking behaviour.
In simplified language it can be defined as, the disease which is occurring again and again or in the language of “medicine net” it is said, disease which can’t be prevented by vaccines.
Chronic conditions cannot be cured or prevented by any vaccination but can only be controlled through ongoing medications. These medications fall under long term treatments. Today there are various “online pharmacies”, which provide “best-price” and “home-delivery”
“Chronic Diseases” are often referred to as no communicable diseases (NCDs). However, denial from this statement can clearly be made with HIV/AIDS as the best example. As it is communicable in nature and “treatment” can carry on for a “long-term”, hence, Chronic Diseases can be communicable and non- communicable or infectious and non-infectious in nature.
Researchers believe that around 63% of the deaths occur due to Chronic Diseases which approximately sum up to 38 million deaths a year. According to a recent survey, 40% of the adults in the USA have at least two chronic conditions which means six in every ten adults in the United States are suffering from a Chronic Disease and four in every ten adults have two or more, requiring ongoing medical attention. “Online-Pharmacies” have made “life-easy” as they offer “fastest-delivery” at the patients “door-step-delivery”.
According to a study conducted at the Havard Medical school, the prevalence of Chronic Disease using NHANEA data, the study classifies the following as Chronic Diseases – Cardiovascular disease, Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Hypercholesterolemia, Asthma, Stroke, Kidney diseases, COPD. The other more recently prevalent Chronic Diseases are Arthritis, Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Eating disorders, Oral health, Obesity and many more.
Major cause of Chronic Diseases are -
1) tobacco use
2) Poor nutrition
3) lack of physical activity
4) Excessive alcohol use
Lifestyle disorders give rise to chronic health conditions like Heart diseases, High cholesterol, High blood pressure, obesity. And these conditions often leads to “Erectile Dysfunction (ED)” in men in particular. Tobacco abuse is by far another most common cause of Chronic Diseases. Generally, men smoke much more than women do. And hence end up having “infertility (ED)” issues and “Erectile Dysfunction (ED)”. Lack of physical activity, Excessive alcohol and cigarette use also leads to “impotence (ED)”. All Chronic Diseases seemed to have interlinked effects which lead to “Inability (ED)” to “maintain an erection (ED)”
